Position Summary

Our Client is seeking an experienced and visionary Product Director to lead the evolution of their product portfolio. As the Product Director, you will play a critical role in driving the strategic growth and enhancement of our existing offerings while spearheading the creation of new products that deliver exceptional value to our client’s students and expand their market presence. Your leadership will be instrumental in aligning product strategy with customer needs and industry trends while ensuring seamless collaboration with cross-functional teams.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Roadmap Management: Take ownership of our client’s product roadmap, including the certificate program, alumni program, and short courses. Drive continuous improvement and innovation to create a streamlined experience for both students and staff.
  • Product Optimization: Identify opportunities to optimize existing products for enhanced user experience and operational efficiency. Collaborate with relevant teams to implement improvements.
  • New Product Development: Collaborate closely with the marketing team to identify and develop new products that increase customer lifetime value (LTV) and meet market demands.
  • Market Insights: Conduct in-depth research to understand customer needs, market trends, and competitive landscape. Engage with customers to inform product strategy and ensure alignment with their expectations.
  • Team Leadership: Lead and manage the product team, including the Director of Learning Design and Development, Director of Student Experience, and Director of Alumni Development and Strategic Partnerships.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Director of Marketing and Sales to align product strategy with target audiences and marketing efforts.
  • Ownership and Accountability: Take full ownership of the product team’s output, velocity, deliverables, and product lifecycle management.
  • KPI Tracking: Establish and track key product performance indicators (KPIs) to measure success and inform decision-making.
  • Player/Coach: Balance hands-on involvement in product development while effectively managing and guiding the team.
  • Strategic Planning: Thoughtfully direct the flow of ideas from founders into profitable and scalable products that align with our client’s mission and goals.
  • Project Management: Demonstrate exceptional project management skills to ensure timely and successful product launches and updates.
  • Technical Proficiency: Utilize Learning Management System (LMS) tools such as Canvas and Teachable, as well as Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, and others to manage product development processes effectively.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and 5+ years of experience in a product leadership role, preferably within the context of e-learning or education-oriented businesses.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive strategic product direction, taking into consideration market trends, customer needs, and business goals.
  • Strong collaboration skills, with experience working closely with marketing, sales, and other departments to achieve shared objectives.
  • Exceptional aptitude to align and influence executive stakeholders.  Must be adept at providing leadership with actionable insights and guidance.  
  • Proven experience leading and managing cross-functional teams, with a track record of building and developing high-performing teams.
  • A passion for innovation and a commitment to enhancing the educational experience through technology and creative solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, to articulate product vision, strategy, and requirements effectively.
  • A proactive self-starter who thrives in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, with a strong ability to initiate and drive initiatives independently.
  • A strong understanding of various LMS tools such as Canvas and Teachable.
  • Proficiency in using tools such as Google Workspace, Zoom, Slack, and other relevant software to manage product development processes.
