Direct Reports: 5 to 10 to start.
Type: W-2 Full-Time, or 1099 Part-Time consulting to start. Both will be considered.
Location: Colorado-based preferred (remote will be considered).
Industry/Sector: Athletic and Sports Equipment / Consumer Goods.

The Opportunity: This role goes beyond traditional leadership; its about spearheading a

Compensation / Equity: This position offers an exceptional compensation model, primarily
based on equity, closely tied to the organization's progression and triumphs. It is perfectly suited
for individuals eager to dedicate their skillset to a burgeoning startup landscape, where eventual
rewards are deeply intertwined with both the company's prosperity and personal
accomplishments. It's important to note that immediate monetary compensation will be
deferred until the successful closure of the forthcoming funding round or when sales
and profitability thresholds are met.
The compensation strategy includes a comprehensive
deferred compensation arrangement designed around specific performance metrics and
objectives, complemented by a meaningful ownership share in the company. The ideal
candidate for this role should possess the financial stability to temporarily defer salary
expectations until the organization is able to provide compensation.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Operational Excellence: Oversee manufacturing and global operations to refine supply chains, enhance product quality, and ensure delivery efficiency. Implement systems and processes that support scalable growth and operational agility.
  • Financial Oversight: Direct the company's financial strategy, including budgeting, forecasting, and investments, to ensure fiscal health. Oversee finance and accounting departments, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Marketing and Brand Development: Lead the marketing team to craft compelling brand narratives and campaigns that resonate with target audiences, driving brand loyalty and market expansion. Utilize data-driven insights to guide marketing strategies and product positioning.
  • Sales Operations Management: Spearhead sales strategies and operations to accelerate revenue growth. Ensure alignment between sales goals and company objectives, optimizing sales processes and team performance for market penetration and customer acquisition.
  • Team and Culture Building: Foster an inclusive and innovative company culture that attracts, develops, and retains top talent. Promote leadership development, employee engagement, and a high-performance mindset across all departments.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Act as the principal contact for investors, partners, and key stakeholders, maintaining open lines of communication. Ensure transparency and alignment of business goals with stakeholder expectations.
  • Human Resources Leadership: Guide the HR department in developing and implementing policies that support employee growth and satisfaction. Strategically plan workforce development and talent acquisition to ensure the organization is equipped to scale.
  • IT and Systems Innovation: Oversee the IT department to ensure technology systems are robust, secure, and scalable, supporting operational efficiency and data-driven decision-making. Encourage technology innovation to maintain competitive advantage.
  • Manufacturing and Distribution Oversight: Direct the manufacturing and distribution channels to ensure products are produced efficiently and meet quality standards.
  • Implement strategies for logistical efficiency and cost reduction, enhancing product availability and customer satisfaction.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all company operations comply with relevant laws, regulations, and ethical standards. Proactively identify and mitigate risks that could impact the company's reputation, operations, or financial standing.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated experience in capital raising and engaging with investors.
  • A strong track record in mergers, acquisitions, and scaling companies.
  • Significant leadership experience, preferably at the CEO or COO level, in small to medium-sized enterprises.
  • Background in consumer goods, ideally within the athletic and sports equipment sector.
  • Openness to relocation to Colorado is preferred. Remote will be considered.
  • Expertise in Financial Modeling and Analysis: Proficiency in developing financial models to forecast business scenarios and inform strategic decisions, crucial for guiding a startup through various stages of growth and funding.
  • Experience with Intellectual Property Management: Understanding of patent processes and intellectual property (IP) management to safeguard and leverage the company’s patented products effectively.
  • Proven Ability in Operational Streamlining: Demonstrated success in streamlining operations to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product delivery timelines, ensuring the company's competitive edge.
  • Skill in Building Strategic Partnerships: Ability to forge and maintain strategic partnerships and relationships with suppliers, distributors, and other stakeholders critical for scaling the business in the athletic and sports equipment sector.
  • Leadership in Product Development and Innovation: Experience leading product development initiatives, from conception through launch, ensuring products meet market needs and drive revenue growth.
  • Strong Negotiation and Contract Management Skills: Skilled in negotiation and managing contracts with vendors, partners, and customers to optimize terms and enhance business value.
  • Cultural and Team Leadership: A track record of building, mentoring, and leading diverse teams to foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and high performance.
  • Adaptability and Resilience: Demonstrated adaptability and resilience in the face of startup challenges, with a commitment to driving growth and achieving long-term success.
